  • Indie Studio License?

Hi guys,

I am debating between Live2D and Spine 2D now.

Is there a cheaper version of Spine 2D for indie developers? Solo Developer? Or very small teams?

400$ range is still a bit steep for my studio.

Spine offers different licensing options, but there isn't a specific "indie" or "solo developer" discount beyond the existing tiers. The Spine Essential license is the most affordable option, priced at $369, and it provides the basic features needed for creating animations. If your studio's revenue is below $500,000 USD annually, this license is sufficient for using the Spine Runtimes in your applications. While there is no specific discount for indie developers, you can start with the Essential license and later upgrade to Spine Professional if needed, paying only the difference in price.

Richard-Lalancette As Spinebot answered, there is no discounted license like an Indie Studio license. However, a Spine Essential or Professional license is a perpetual license, which means that once purchased, you can use the same license forever, as long as your studio does not exceed the revenue threshold ($500,000 USD), which is inexpensive in the long run.

Thank you! I do need weights and deformation, so Spine is not my solution at the moment, at 400$ price range.

Thank you! Hunting down an alternative now.
