That sounds terrible! I have never seen that. Any insight into what triggers it could be helpful.

You might try pressing each alt, ctrl, and shift key on your keyboard to ensure none are stuck in the down state, whether physically or just that the software thinks they are pressed. The key up event can clear the stuck state, if that shot in the dark is the issue.

Aha! One of our oldest and most distinguished animators! Glad you are still kickin'. 😉

Dragging things across skeletons is surprisingly complex. On top of that, many users don't do it at all. Those two things combined means it likely has more bugs than any other area of Spine. Please keep your eye out for any weird, especially crashes, keeping in mind what items you dragged across skeletons. We have only a few rare mystery crashes that we can't reproduce and it would be amazing to squash them. I'm pretty sure they have to do with dragging across skeletons.

ArtizensAnimator Sorry for the inconvenience. There is a known bug where the draw order changes when bones are moved between skeletons. You can find the issue ticket for this bug here:
    EsotericSoftware/spine-editor806

As shown in the replication steps described in the issue, the slots under the child bones of the selected bone appear to be up after the bone is moved. If all the slots in the reproduction project attached to the ticket are direct children of the bone1 bone, and then the bones are moved between skeletons, the problem of the drawing order changing does not occur. This may be a workaround for you.

    • ArtizensAnimator Ah, sorry I didn't take that into account properly. I'll see if I can resolve this.

I've noticed that there is a pending issue in the Github for the spine editor to do "driven key" stuff...
      EsotericSoftware/spine-editor121
Is that something that's in the pipeline?

Yes, we cannot give a definite answer as to when it will be implemented, but we understand that this is a much requested improvement and is one of the issues we hope to address as soon as possible.

    • I'm looking to contract a Spine artist/animator for my small game. My game helps you memorize Japanese sounds and words. You adventure through a dungeon, each level of the dungeon is a different set of words. The levels start out with basic kana sounds and advance into basic every day words by category. The game plays out with a small scene select, a dungeon with level selection, and then the actual dungeon floor which is conveyed in a 2D platform like fashion.

Specific to Spine I'm looking for: hero character, basic monsters, boss monsters, and town NPC characters. The rest of the art can be static, but animated in Spine also helps; I will also be looking to contract out environment art as well. It would help if you can create art in east Asian style (anime, chibi, manga, etc.) Communication via Email and Google Meet is required.
