When you have 1000+ images and not each image is a mesh, changing the draw order turns into a challenge.
Do you suggest we turn ALL of the images into meshes or could we make them selectable (but not editable) in animate mode?

What exactly is hard? That you can't box select region attachments in animate mode? You could box select in setup mode, then switch to animate mode and adjust draw order.

FWIW, in 3.6 you can click a region attachment in the viewport to select it in the tree, even in animate mode, then +/- hotkeys will change draw order.

Oh yes, you can't even imagine how grateful I am Q.Q____

Most of the times we'd have alternative frames, and they're not meshes, so selecting them to change them in certaint points of an animation gets really hard, so thank you!

Sure. 🙂

Could also use selection groups, if you are changing the draw order many times.

Yes I told this to the others first of course, but then they said "we made a referendum and decided for the lazy path of meshes" I suppose it's also because 10 things to select may be too few (and I myself don't really know how one could extend this number honestly, those selections are so precious we keep them for multiple bones selection usually, or I use them for when I need to make complex weights on a mesh)

Someday we hope to have a list of selections, with options like isolation, show/hide, etc.

That would be so useful!

I tried it just now but it's not working, I tried clicking, dragging, activating all the options, even tags, (in the options section) but it still only works with neshes in 3.6. ):

In 3.6, in animate mode, if you click a region attachment, it is selected in the tree. It wouldn't be selected in the viewport, because regions can't be manipulated in the viewport. Being selected in the tree is sufficient for changing the draw order. So, click a region attachment in animate mode, then press plus or 'minusorctrl + plusor 'ctrl + minus (cmd + plus or 'cmd + minus` on Mac).

When you click on a bone or a mesh, you see that it is selected because the tree does that scroll animation and expands the view and the image looks like it's selected, it didn't have that behaviour so I assumed it wasn't really woking. That would be useful also for swapping images and choosing the right attachment to switch into.

I just tried by first selecting an image in select mode, unselecting it and then trying to select it in animate mode and noticed it worked but just didn't do the autoscroll/expand thing. So I'm happy it kinda works although this way it's harder to guess if it was actually selected or not >.<

Trying it some more not having a hint that it's selected when things overlap I have completly no clue of what I selected and wheter I actually selected it or not. Sigh

I'm not sure what you are seeing. You need to have nothing selected, so hit escape or spacebar or double click in the viewport. Next, when you click a region attachment in the viewport, it will be selected in the tree. If you have this button selected (blue):

Image removed due to the lack of support for HTTPS. | Show Anyway

then the tree will scroll to the region.

It's true you don't get visual feedback that you are over the region attachment you want, but I think it would be odd to allow selection of region attachment in animate mode when you can't manipulate them there, especially when you can't currently disable selection of regions and meshes separately.

No it's not ): Also if it's an image surrounded by meshes it really is impossible to select.

And here's a gif showing the frustration of it not working at all on spineboy

What's not?

It seems you found a bug where if bone selection is disabled, the region meshes can't be selected. Enable bone selection, then click a region mesh

it will be selected in the tree and you can adjust draw order. Also that message about IK being disabled is wrong. We'll get those fixed! 🙂

I was surprised to find we already had code for showing mouse hover over an attachment that can't be selected. With that, a hovered region attachment in animate mode (which can't be selected in the viewport, only the tree) looks like:

Image removed due to the lack of support for HTTPS. | Show Anyway

For comparison, here is a hovered mesh (which can be selected in the viewport):

Image removed due to the lack of support for HTTPS. | Show Anyway

Seems OK to me. If all the hover of things you can't select in the viewport gets annoying, there's the option to disable image selection.

I meant it's not scrolling, sorry.

That's good to find! And thank you so much Q.Q all of our team is grateful for this
