Newbie Hungry for More
Hi all,
I recently purchased Spine Pro after a week long research stint into what animation software would work best for me and after figuring out how to get the basics down with simple rigging and bone manipulation, I'm hungry to learn more advanced techniques to get the most out of my purchase. I noticed that Esoteric's video offerings only cover the basics, and it would be great to see some videos covering how to best utilize tools like constraints and animating meshes. Kestrel Moon (the developers of Creature) for example, covers a lot of what they're software can do through tutorial videos on their official Youtube channel.
I found a way using a single bone target to manipulate the mesh for a character's face to make it look like it's turning around and this gave me a glimpse as to how far Spine can take single images. That said, if anyone has some videos or tutorials on some more advanced stuff, I'm all ears. I saw the Squash/Stretch video on combining IK and path constraints and that was interesting and something I wouldn't have thought of doing. I really love the cool animations from Hwadock, but other than seeing how he used meshes to create the 3D effect for them, there's no in depth look at how to work the rig.
Spine really is crazy. I plan on using it with Unity some time in the future. Looking forward to sharing what I can do with it here and all the future updates the devs have in store for it.
Hi Ron,
It's really nice to see all this enthusiasm!
I'll be making more tutorial videos that space up on the different creative ways Spine can be used, and if you wander a little in the showcase section you'll see many interesting examples as well!
If you have any other suggestions I'm all ears, regarding the one bone to move the face setup, it's something I really like to do as well! (You can find an example of this in the owl project that you can download with the Spine runtimes) and Shiu is preparing another example focused on face rigging as well!
