  • WTF time...: Bloated images when rotating in setup mode

Ermm... either I've messed up something big, or Spine has started to mock me hard...

They say one image is worth 1000 words, so here you have 2000...:

Before rotating

After rotating

So... what the hell??

Funny thing is that this doesn't happen to me if I use the pose tool, neither animating (fortunately). And yes, this has started to happen at every bone of every skeleton I have in this project (four in total).

If it wasn't for that it's 'only' affecting Setup Mode, I would be panicking HARD right now... :p

I'm using 3.6.10-beta and I've already restarted Spine with the same result.

Some ideas?

Can't tell what is happening from the images. Are the mesh weights causing that deformation? Can you post screenshots of that, or post or email the .spine file? contact@esotericsoftware.com

It only happens with meshed images, yup. The funny thing, as I mentioned, is that only happens in Setup Mode.

I'm sending you a GDrive link to the project file and the (heavily compressed) images skeleton, although it happens with the four of them in there.

Thank you, Nate. 🙂

Update:

I've tried my luck by clicking on 'Auto' on one of those meshes, so Spine resets weights to the state it understands as good, but it happens the same.

Also, I'm sending you the last file that works well for me. I saved it with a 3.5.46 version instead of the 3.6.xx-beta... :wonder:

As you can see, it's rotating fine there, and weights are basically the same in both files...:

Bad file

Good file

If you have in mind any test I could do, please tell me. I'd be more than happy to experiment. :p

Another update:

I've imported this skeleton to a brand new project, but it happens the same, so the problem is self-contained or related to the beta (?).

Thanks for the files, that helps a whole lot. The problem is a bug in the compensation that happens when you manipulate a linked, weighted mesh in setup mode. It actually does a form of compensation in setup mode (even when neither image or bone compensation is engaged), which adjusts the bind poses for each bound bone. We'll have this fixed in 3.6.11-beta. Sorry for all the trouble! We really appreciate you using the beta and reporting problems.

Oooh, true. It only happens with linked meshes! :p

Well, my pleasure to have helped in any way.

I'm really happy with 3.6. Some of its new features are a must have to me, so it seems I'll be a beta-tester for some time, yeah. 😃
