I'm building an isometric browser RPG and I'm looking for an animator for my characters.
The game is isometric, so every action is animated in 8 directions (N, NE, E, SE, S, SW,
W, NW). That's the core of the job - please quote with that in mind.
What you get: layered PSD bases from my character artist, every part already cut and
complete underneath overlapping pieces. You do the rig and the animation, not the drawing.
Animation set per character, 10 actions: idle, run, attack A, attack B, thrown weapon,
dash, ground slam, jump (launch / air / landing), guard, death.
8 directions each - 80 clips plus the rigs for one character.
Style is retro-anime, flat cel shading with clean outlines. Fantasy setting.
Delivery: your project files plus exported PNG sprite sheets. The engine is Phaser and
doesn't run a Spine runtime, so baked frames are what ships. Exact frame size, timings
and naming come with the first work order.
What I need from you:
- Portfolio, ideally something isometric or multi-directional.
- Which tool you rig in and which license tier - meshes and weights matter for cloth
and capes.
- Your price per clip, quoting a full character: 10 actions x 8 directions = 80 clips
plus the rigs.
- How many hours a week you can realistically give this.
How I'd like to start: a small paid test before anything else. One idle animation in one
three-quarter direction, agreed price, and I pay it whether or not we continue. That way
we both find out quickly whether the style and the workflow fit, with no risk on either
side.
This is a self-funded indie project, so I'll be honest about the scale: it's a modest
budget, paid per clip by PayPal, 50% upfront on each work order. But it's steady and
it's ongoing. There are several heroes planned after this one, and I'd much rather build
a long relationship with one animator than restart with someone new every character.
Write to me with your portfolio and your rate and I'll get back to everyone.
